36-HOUR online ACTIVITY DIRECTORS COURSE WITH 6 HOURS OF DEMENTIA COURSEWORK
For Activity Directors and Special Care Unit Coordinators
Course Fee $600
The course provides 42 hours of online instruction and will cover the Alzheimer’s/ Dementia training four-hour requirement for any staff working on a licensed memory care unit and the six-hour requirement for all staff working with any resident with a diagnosis of dementia. In addition, the class provides an overview of resident rights; person-centered activity care planning; human wellness and self-esteem; etiology and symptomatology of the aged, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill; therapeutic approaches; activity program philosophy, design, resources, standards, and regulation; program evaluation; practitioner behavior and ethics; resident assessment and supportive documentation; and management and administration.
This course fulfills all Illinois Department of Public Health requirements for both Activity Director and required dementia coursework of IDPH Section 300.1410(c), activity professional working on a certified dementia unit to fulfill requirements for the dementia unit activity program under subpart U, section 300.4040 ( C ) and Section 973.140 staff training requirements for dementia care.
