STEVEN C. GREENWALD is a graduate of the University of Illinois School of Social Work (Urbana-Champaign). He holds both a Masters and Bachelors degree in, Social Work. Mr. Greenwald's experience includes extensive work with geriatric, psychiatric and medically impaired populations in residential, in-patient and out-patient settings. He presently consults to many long-term care facilities in several states. Mr. Greenwald is a popular instructor at seminars and workshops addressing the delivery of professional social work and behavioral health care services in assisted living, special dementia care environments, nursing home and hospital settings. His expertise includes: Educating staff on best practices to comply with the Centers for Medicare/Medicaid (CMS) standards, JCAHO accreditation, care plan development, staff development/management/evaluation, quality improvement/performance improvement, deficiency refutations and plans of correction. Mr. Greenwald is a nationally known author and the editor of the SocialWork Consultation Group Letter, a quarterly newsletter distributed to nursing facilities in the United States and Canada. He has developed over 100 PowerPoints designed to facilitate education of long-term care staff. He has received professional acclaim and recognition for his long-term care resource books. Mr. Greenwald received certification from the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW) early in his career and he is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). He is an advisory board member to the Activity Therapists Association of Illinois.
Cathy has been a member of our team for twenty years. Cathy is a graduate of the University of Illinois, initially with her BSW and following six years providing medical social work at Proctor Hospital she completed her MSW. Upon graduation she worked at the Galena Park Home for nine years. For a few years, Cathy worked in her family business and started consulting for LTC facilities independently. An LCSW and an ACSW, Cathy is also an active member of NASW and was named Social Worker of the Year for the Peoria District. She has co-authored scholarly articles for Social Work Today and for Topics in Geriatric Rehabilitation. Cathy is an excellent presenter on many topics including Mental Health, Therapeutic Recreation, Behavior Management and Skills Training. In her spare time, Cathy is a marathon runner and has been an active participant in the Memphis to Peoria St. Jude Run for over 20 years.
Diane McClain has been an important part of SocialWork Consultation Group, Inc. for almost ten years. She has extensive experience in private practice, hospital work and outpatient mental health clinics. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan. She went on to receive her Board Clinical Diplomat from NASW. Her talents include working with multiple populations, including geriatric, adults with physical disabilities, the severely mentally ill and persons who identify as LGBTQ. She is a dynamic speaker and is available for in-services that serve all departments. She enjoys training and providing professional development, MSW/MA intern supervision and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training. Diane has her own private practice as The Traveling Couch.
Zoya Zackavec has been part of our team for over 3 years. She is a Licensed Social Worker with experience and expertise in medical social work, gerontology and mental health. Zoya received her BA in Communications at the University of Pennsylvania. She went on to get her MSW at Loyola University Chicago, saying it was by far her proudest moment. Zoya is proficient in long-term care regulatory standards and best practices, advocacy for at-risk elderly, persons with severe mental illness, advance medical directives, nursing home consultation, supervision and Point Click Care (PCC), Zoya is a certified CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Instructor and has conducted many classes in the Chicago area. She is fluent in English, Russian and Spanish. Zoya is also an outstanding fencer from a competitive fencing family.
Taylor Pfluger initially started on a part-time basis with our company two years ago. She is now on board full-time and is becoming a seasoned veteran at SocialWork Consultation Group, Inc. She has been a wonderful addition and a great asset to our many clients. She has a bachelors in sociology from Illinois State University and a an MSW from Loyola University Chicago. Working as either an assistant director or director of social services in a number of different settings has given her great insight into the workings of Nursing Home facilities and allows her to assist teams in strengthening their facility programming. Taylor is insightful with strong observation skills and knowledgeable about the multiple compliance standards on the State and Federal levels.
Sue Seite is an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker who entered the field of Social Work a bit later in life, with an interest in compassionate Hospice care. She has a BA in Communications from North Central College, Naperville and in 2011 she received an MSW from Aurora University with a specialization in Gerontology. Sue worked as a Social Work Director in a Skilled facility for two years and was enabled to complete the standards for the LCSW and pass the test, in part, because, in Sue's words "the supervision she received from SwCG's Catherine Bradley." Sue has been an integral part of our team for over three years and has led several social service departments through deficiency free surveys. Sue enjoys teaching/training and addressing the numerous challenges in today's LTC environment.
James Messerschmidt is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over thirty years of experience in Behavioral Health, Long-Term Care and Acute Medical Facilities. He has been with SocialWork Consultation Group ,Inc. for 6 years and is a great asset to our team. He currently divides his time between Emergency Department Social Work and Long-Term Care Consultation. James is one of our foremost experts in crisis de-escalation and stabilization and a certified Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) trainer. He is an excellent communicator, able to deliver presentations with clarity and inspiration. In fact, he is often requested specifically by organizations. He specializes in Mental Health, Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias, medical/psychiatric Social Work, Community Relations and Marketing. James has provided CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training to over 450 health care workers.
Erica Hill has been a part of the SocialWork Consultation Group, Inc. team for many years, originally joining our group in 2006. She graduated from the University of Nebraska in 2001 with her MSW. As a long-term care consultant, she brings expertise in clinical social work program supervision, quality assurance review, diagnostic assessment skills, psychosocial programming and care plan development. Her experience is with SNF's, IMD/ICF's, Mental/Behavioral Health, Substance Use Disorders, Dementia Care, and Supportive/Independent Living Centers. Erica is a dynamic speaker and facilitates workshops/inservices, guest lectures, Crisis Prevention Institute Training (CPI) and Internship Supervision.
TRACI L. PARETI is a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) who brings 20 years of expertise to our company. She provides education and training to long-term care facilities in both the private and not-for-profit sectors. She has extensive experience as a Dementia Special Care Coordinator and is a Dementia Care instructor. Ms. Pareti is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University (Charleston, IL) and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Administration. Ms. Pareti’s experience includes extensive work with geriatric and psychiatric populations in long term care facilities. She is a much sought after resource and seminar leader in the Illinois and Midwestern region. Ms. Pareti's expertise includes advances in dementia care (including Person-Centered Care), program and staff competency evaluation, teaching regulatory compliance with the myriad of state and federal regulations, recreation administration and staff development. She is a regular contributor to the SocialWork Consultation Group “Letter,” a member of the National Association for Activity Professionals and an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Ms. Pareti has been a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) since 1997.
Sally Tantilla, MA, CTRS is an experienced recreation therapist and elder advocate. She has been in the field leading activities for over 25 years. Sally earned her BS in Psychology from Elmhurst College and received her Master's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Aurora University. In 1995, Sally began her consulting career after receiving her CTRS. Taking a break to raise her family, she returned to consulting in 2012 in the Illinois long-term care community. Sally recently joined our group and has been a wonderful asset and addition to the SocialWork Consultation Group, Inc. family.
Theresa Milliron has been with SocialWork Consultation Group, Inc ten years as an activity/therapeutic recreation consultant. She received a BA in Psychology and MS in Recreation Parks, and Tourism Administration with an emphasis in Recreational Therapy at Western Illinois University. Theresa worked at Children’s Memorial Hospital on the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Inpatient Unit for 10 years. From there she transitioned to a career in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Her work experience as a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Service Director (PSRD) and Activity Director for 5 years and then as a Memory Care Coordinator for 4 1/2 years has made her a knowledgeable and experienced asset to our team. Theresa is a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist for 20 years along with being a QMHP and a Certified Dementia Trainer. She is also an active member in the Chicagoland Activity Professional Association.
